When funeral director Amaryllis “Amma” Kane receives an unidentified young woman's body at Kane & Sons Funeral Home, she expects another routine night preparing the dead.

Instead, she brings something home with her.

As the haunting grows more violent, Kane & Sons Funeral Home becomes a nightmare of restless corpses, unexplained sounds, and a presence that seems to follow Amma wherever she goes. The dead refuse to stay still, and the closer Amma gets to the unidentified woman, the more she realizes that something is terribly wrong with the body on her table.

Whatever is inside Jane Doe was meant to remain in the house, trapped within the corpse and forgotten. But now it has been brought into Amma's funeral home. And with every passing night, something inside the body begins to stir—like roots slowly pushing through the earth, reaching deeper and deeper until whatever has been sleeping inside finally wakes.
